For some months now, the social media has been awash with loads of allegations from House of Representatives aspirant, Ikeja Federal Consistency, Lagos State, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, who is battling to take over from Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, the current occupant of the exalted seat.
Her major grouse is that Hon. Faleke contested election in Kogi State and as such shouldn’t return to Lagos to recontest. But she has failed to tell Lagosians if Faleke resigned his position at the National Assembly while contesting in Kogi State.
Is she also aware that but for the uglypolitics that the APC national body played against the national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Faleke would have been the Governor of Kogi State today?
Or how do you explain INEC declaring an election inconclusive when Audu/Faleke were leading the PDP sitting government in Kogi State with about 41,000 votes, while the areas declared inconclusive had just 19,000 votes?
Again, why will the party substitute the late Abubakar Audu for Yahaya Bello, who was just a runner-up in the governorship election primaries?
Is Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka aware of the fact that Hon. Faleke changed the tide of that election in Kogi? That in the two previous elections that Abubakar had contested in Kogi State, he was unable to win Kogi West, but Faleke made it possible within 3 months of joining the race? They won 6 of 7 LGAs in Kogi West district, of Kogi State.
Let’s look at this again – but for the blind loyalty of Hon. Faleke, to the leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he would have remained in Kogi State and accepted the position of the deputy governor of the State that he won.
It’s again on record that he was equally promised a juicy position to persuade him to dump his boss and the leader of the party, but he never succumbed.
Aside all these, Hon. Faleke has brought a lot of developmental projects to Ikeja since he assumed that position in the National Assembly, touched thousands of lives through his empowerment and job creation programs.
The beauty, however, is that while TBA, who has never won any election in her life and her few supporters are busy working against JAF, the people of Ikeja are solidly behind the latter, working assiduously to ensure that he returns in 2019, as well as continue with the good work he’s doing.
