Elumelu: We Must Tap Into The Power Of Our Young People

In a few hours, I will be joining Global leaders from around the world at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as one of the inaugural Board Members of “Generation Unlimited”. Generation Unlimited is part of the United Nation’s Youth Strategy #Youth2030 which aims to refocus the United Nation’s commitment to educating, empowering and creating opportunities for young people worldwide.

I am excited about the launch of #Youth2030 because not only does it align with the gains we have achieved over the last four years empowering thousands of young African entrepreneurs through the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme, it will also bring together a wide range of partners to brainstorm, co-create and scale up innovative solutions to expand opportunities for young people across the world.

At this high-level launch, I will announce the recent partnership between The Tony Elumelu Foundation and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the German Government Development Agency, to empower an additional 210 young African entrepreneurs, in addition to TEF’s commitment of 1000 entrepreneurs each year. Why? Because no one has more stake in our future than young people – YOU are our greatest asset!

We must tap into the power of our young people & unleash their fullest potential! We must put our young people first!
