A major political crisis has enveloped and engulfed the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State over who becomes their governorship candidate, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine can confirm.
While a faction loyal to the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, announced their choice as Adekunle Akinlabi, another picked Dapo Abiodun as theirs.
The former group also has as key members, Derin Adebiyi, APC Chairman in Ogun State, Taiwo Adeoluwa, Secretary to the Ogun State Government and Iyabo Anusilowo, a former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who recently accused the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN and APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole of sabotaging the efforts of Ogun West to produce the next governor of the state after toiling for decades to make this a reality.
Dapo Abiodun’s group, of course, enjoys the support of the national body. As a matter of fact, it was the Muhammad Ndabawa-led eight-man National Working Panel which Oshiomhole sent to Ogun that announced Abiodun as the winner of their own primary election.
Adekunle Akinlabi currently represents the people of Agbado South and Ipokia in the House of Representatives. He is in his late 40s and prior to joining politics was into stocks business.
Abiodun, on the other hand, is in his 50s and owns and runs Heyden, a multi-million oil conglomerate.
Ogun people, expectedly, are now waiting and watching to see how the political drama in their state eventually plays out. Even as the out-going governor, who is very close to President Muhammadu Buhari, and his SSG continue to accuse Oshiomhole of working against them.
