Nigeria’s Senate, led by Dr. Bukola Saraki, has finally approved the appointment of legal giant and former National Legal Adviser, All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire, SAN, as the Chairman of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON.
President Muhammadu Buhari, it would be recalled, had months back nominated Banire for the position and assignment.
But unfortunately, the three Senators representing Lagos State in the Upper House, Solomon Adeola, Remi Tinubu and Gbenga Ashafa, vehemently objected to his confirmation. Ostensibly due to the crisis plaguing the Lagos APC, with Banire and the trio belonging to different camps and factions.
A middle ground, it appears, has now been found, with Banire finally confirmed and ready to go.
