The woes of the embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, are far from being over.
Arising from a meeting hours ago in Abuja, the National Judicial Council just issued a fresh query to the suspended CJN.
The query, it would be recalled, was necessitated by a petition sent earlier to the council by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, accusing Onnoghen of myriad financial malfeasance. And skipping proper documentation of his assets declaration forms.
Onnoghen has seven days to respond to the query. However, NJC’s Soji Oye revealed that they would be reconvening again on Wednesday, February 13. Perhaps to also critically examine the second issue of his successor.
