Lawan Floors Ndume, Emerges New Senate President

True to prediction, Senator Ahmed Lawan of the All Progressives Congress,APC, representing Yobe North senatorial district, has emerged the winner of the Senate presidential seat.

He contested the Senate leadership seat with Ali Ndume, who was last night adopted by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as its candidate for the Senate leadership seat.

Lawan cornered 79 votes out of 107 votes cast by the senators present at the chamber, while Ndume got only 28 votes in the tension-soaked election.

Jubilation has been going on in Lawan’s camp, who succeeds Bukola Saraki, the 8th President of the Senate.
