The President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, if things go according to plans, would be stepping aside from that position to assume duties, most likely as the Commissioner for Information, in Osun State
Egbemode, also the MD of Telegraph Newspapers, is among those nominated recently by Governor Gboyega Oyetola, to take the State to the next level with him as his Commissioners.
Interestingly, the NGE, in quick succession, has ‘lost’ three Presidents in a similar manner. The first to go was Mr. Femi Adesina, who is currently with President Muhammadu Buhari. His successor, Alhaji Garbadeen also left soon after for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. And now Mrs. Egbemode, who took over from him.
Mrs. Egbemode’s next in command may likely step into her shoes. A by-election could also be settled for to decide that.
Meanwhile, below are the names of the other nominees:
Mumini Adekunle Raifu
Olawale Babatunde Olumide
Olaniyan Hussein Toke
Adeosun Adegboyega Rasaq
Badmus Olalekan Rahmon
Kareem Ismail Akande
