Like a cock perching on a not-too-strong rope, the Emeka Rollas Ejezie-led Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has not known peace ever since it announced Senator Ishaku Abbo, otherwise known as the ‘Slapping Senator’ as their patron.
Senator Abbo, for those who may not know, is from the North East and represents one of the senatorial districts in Adamawa State. He, however, earned for himself national opprobrium after a video of him manhandling a woman in a sex toy shop in Abuja was made public.
Dragged to court for his obnoxious act and also battered left, right and centre on the social media, many still can’t comprehend or fathom how Emeka Rollas and his exco arrived at his choice as their patron.
And obviously piqued by this action, some popular actors like Kate Henshaw and Hilda Dokubo have been demanding explanation. Others, however, have attributed it to alleged pecuniary motives.
Threatened and worried by their unending social media call out, Ejezie and his officials are now trying to work out a soft landing for themselves – and one of the ways so far adopted is to call for a meeting and appeal for some ceasefire. Hear him:
“WE HEARD YOUR VOICES OF CONCERN
This is a special appeal to our teeming members, fans and associates that the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN is mindful of the feelings of some members with regards to the the choice of Senator Ishaku Abbo as National Patron , North East Zone of AGN.

The object of this meeting is essentially to tackle this issue and other relevant matters relating to the AGN and its quest to improve the welfare of members.
“However , a committee has been set up to look immediately into the complaints and indeed grievances of members and make urgent recommendations to the National Executive Committee for immediate action.
“We urge our teeming members and in particular those that have expressed strong reservations about this subject in issue to please desist from further comments on social media and join other stakeholders at a professional table of brotherhood on Monday as we collectively engage in a dialogue of hope, unity and harmony in our AGN .
God bless AGN ! God bless Nigeria !
