Reserved and very peaceful. These two adjectives aptly describe star actress and producer, Uchechukwu Nwanneamaka Mac-auley. Born forty something years ago to Ubulu-Uno, Delta State parents, the beautiful and svelte actress who is better known as Onome endeared herself to movie buffs with her incessant weeping roles.
Married hitherto to Obi Osotule, a fellow industry practitioner whom she met in 1993 on the set of Unforgiven Sin, Uche is a 1990 English graduate of Delta State University and is currently married to Solomon Mac-auley.
She is one of those people who try not to regret anything, but singled out the 6th day of March, 1985 as her saddest day: it was the day her dear mother and role model breathed her last. Her happiest moments, however, include the day she got married, the day she won the THEMA award… “Your life is no longer yours”, she once told this interviewer about what she detests about stardom. And to those who are on the verge of joining the married club, her advice is: “Patience and perseverance should be your watch-words. You should also endeavour to put God first in everything you do”.
Colour-wise, nothing trips her. But for stomach care, rice and plantain with a chilled bottle of anything soft will do. Uche, who enjoys listening to Christian music, has BMW (7 series) as her favourite automobile.
And should she get to encounter God, the actress said her sole request will be to ask for the wisdom of king Solomon and probably hope that God will also add every other thing for her just like He did for the fabled king also.
