The chickens, indeed, are coming home to roost.
Another ex-Governor, James Bala Ngilari, has been jailed for 5 years – and with no option of fine.
Ngilari, erstwhile Governor of Adamawa State, was asked to spend the next 5 years in prison by Justice Nathan Musa of the Adamawa High Court on Monday, March 6, 2017 for allegedly violating the procurement law.
The EFCC had dragged Ngilari and two others, Ibrahim Andrew Welye and Sanda Jonathan Lamurde, to court over the said offence. According to the anti-graft agency, the three men had awarded a N167 million contract to El-Yadi Motors Ltd without adhering to the procurement law.
The money was said to be for 25 Toyota Corolla cars. And for not going about the disbursement the right way, they have landed in hot soup.
