An American, Charles Carlson, was on Monday found lifeless in his hotel room in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The Lagos Sate Police Command has however described the death as ‘Sudden and Unnatural Death’ (SUD).
It was gathered that the death of the American inside his hotel room at Ellyx Vile Hotel, located at No. 8 African Line, Lekki Phase 1, was rather ‘mysterious’.
The foreigner was said to have been found dead at about 5.35pm.
Police detectives at the Maroko Police Station were alerted.
The Divisional Police Officer, Abdulmajid, had raced to the scene where the body of the dead was removed.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State command, Fatai Owoseni, has ordered full-scale investigation into the death.
According to spokesperson of the command, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, “We received a situation report of sudden and unnatural death of a foreign national today at about 5.35pm. Vincent Owunke, a manager with Ellyx Vile Hotel, at No. 8, African Line, Lekki Phase 1, reported that one of the guests, Charles Carlson, an American aged 57years, died in the hotel.
“He told detecitives that they noticed that he did not come out for break fast. Telephone calls to his mobile and hotel intercom were not picked which prompted them to call his business partner.
“The door was forced open and he was found motionless; he hung himself with a rope close to door. Detectives from Maroko Division visited the scene and the corpse was evacuated to the mortuary.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni, has directed that the case to be transferred to homicide section of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti for discreet investigation.”
