Finally, President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, have made public their assets. Interestingly, the latter is richer than the former – and not withstanding that Buhari is Osinbajo’s boss.
Here is a break down of their assets which they just made public yesterday: Buhari says he has N30 million in his account, 7 houses, 257 cattle, 25 sheep, plots of land in Kano and Port Harcourt, Rivers State and shares in Berger Paints, Union and Skye Banks.
For Osinbajo, he has N94 million in his account, $900,000 in his dormicillary account, 2 houses in Nigeria, a mortgaged house in the United Kingdom and shares in MTN and four other companies.
As would be expected, commendations and criticisms have been trailing their disclosures. Especially because the initial tale flying all over the place was that Buhari had just one house in Daura. Many again say they didn’t know he had up to N30 million in his account. Those on his side, however, think otherwise and also want other government officials to follow suit.
