The days of Mrs. Kemi Adeosun as Nigeria’s Finance Minister may be numbered if the information at the disposal of YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine is anything to go by.
Insiders told us that Mrs. Adeosun, her principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as her godfather, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, were thoroughly rattled by the Premium Times exposé that Mrs. Adeosun did not only shun the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, but also went ahead to allegedly forge a discharge certificate!
Mrs. Adeosun claims to have completed her NYSC programme in 2009. Meanwhile, she graduated from the Polytechnic of East London in 1989. Born in March 1967, she was aged 22 at the time of her graduation. But rather than serve her fatherland, she reportedly circumvented the process, working in several companies and even rising to the position of a Commissioner under Amosun and now a Minister under Buhari.
´She may be asked to resign like Salisu Buhari, the then Speaker, House of Representatives, during President Olusegun Obasanjo. Yes, she has too many powerful and influential people behind her. But this one is going to dent this administration badly if nothing is done. In short, I doubt if this could be swept under the rug. More so, with another election fast approaching and the opposition looking for things to hold against Buhari .´
Born Folakemi Oguntomoju, the troubled Minister read Applied Economics in the United Kingdom, before returning to Nigeria in 2002. Her first place of work in Nigeria was Chapel Hill Denham. And later, other places like Quo Vadis Partnerships, Ogun State Government and Federal Government of Nigeria.
All the jobs were secured contrary to Section 12 of the NYSC Act which made it mandatory for employers to demand their prospective employees’ NYSC certificates before offering them any employment.
Though unconfirmed, we heard that some people had be extorting the devastated woman until the whole scandal became public knowledge.
’Adeosun, no doubt, is one of the stars in this administration. But Buhari being an anti corruption preacher, I seriously doubt if the woman would survive this. But mind you, all that is going to be after their own internal investigation. Like they did to Babachir, the former SGF, a panel is likely going to be set up to look into it and afterwards submit their findings.
´All that, of course, will take time, but the saddest part remains that with this, Adeosun’s life and career will never, never be the same again. The social media warriors are also going to make her life miserable in the next few days or even weeks’, ended one of our sources.
