Nigeria, today, attained the age of 55 – and in his Anniversary Address to the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari, admitted that we are not there yet. According to him, ‘We have the attributes of a great nation, but we are not there yet’.
He equally reminded all Nigerians that ‘change does not just happen. You and I have to realize that we all have a role to play for change to happen’. Change, by the way, is the slogan of the President’s party – All Progressives Congress (APC).
Assuring Nigerians of better days ahead, he praised his administration for the successes recorded so far in upping power generation, stabilizing fuel and kerosine supply cum distribution as well as castrating Boko Haram to an appreciable extent. ‘In addition, I have ordered investigation of other revenue services such as the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Inland Revenue Service’, the anti-corruption agent further stated.
On his ministerial list, which took a while in coming, he said ‘There is no cause for anxiety’. Explaining that the major reason was the late submission of the previous administration’s hand over notes.
The presidential address lasted for about 10 minutes this morning.
