Like Late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, rightly captured it in one of his classics, Confusion Don Break Bone, as far as today’s strike action initiated by the National Labour Congress is concerned.
While NLC says it is going ahead with the strike, the Trade Union Congress has pulled out just like PENGASSEN and NUPENG.
Meaning that the strike has been seriously weakened. In fact, as you read this, there are more workers on their way to work than those at home.
More so as the Federal Government and even the Lagos State Government have resolved to open registers at all government offices for the workers and provide them with adequate security. The other strategy they are adopting is ‘no work, no play’.
Today’s strike, no doubt, will not be as successful as the previous ones – what with labour’s ranks already weakened and Balkanized and again the court order secured by the FG, restraining them from proceeding with it.
