Hardworking Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his media briefing this evening (Wednesday, April 29, 2020), rolled out 12 new rules aimed at containing the ravaging and rampaging coronavirus, especially as the gradual easing of the lockdown begins next week in the Centre of Excellence.
Below are the rules which all Lagosians MUST obey…
1.All places of worship will remain closed until further notice.
2. Eateries and restaurants are to open between 9am-3pm and will do only takeout. No eat in. Take note: they must wear gloves and masks to attend to customers.
3. For public transport, all commuters are to wear masks and gloves. Handwashing equipment and thermometers must also be provided. Buses to load at 60% capacity. No standing. All airconditioners to be off. All commercial bikes suspended while tricycles, aka Keke Marwa, will carry two passengers only.
4. Controlled easing phase for all businesses (banks and companies). All staff will work between 9am and 3pm, with a maximum of 60% capacity on ground. Others to work from home.
5. All schools remain closed! Teaching, for now, will be online.
6. Whistle blower channels to be introduced for any one who flaunts the directive and those who may have plans to circumvent and sabotage these laudable plans.
7. All beaches, clubs, gyms, salons, cinemas, swimming pools to remain closed.
8. Markets to open on designated days, but between 9am-3pm.
9. 50% elevator capacity only at all high rise buildings.
10. Funerals are permitted. But only 20 people allowed to attend and that must include the officiating ministers. No party afterwards.
11. Curfew remains in place as directed by the President from 8pm to 6am.
12. Review of compliance to be done again in 2 weeks.
