The Dasukigate is becoming more and more interesting. Daily, new twists and turns keep emerging. With new characters also landing both major and minor roles in the mind-blowing and mind-boggling N32 billion arms procurement scandal.
Already, the major character, Col. Sambo Dasuki, Nigeria’s immediate-past National Security Adviser, NSA, is standing trial alongside others like High Chief, Raymond Dokpesi, owner of Daar Communications, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, former Governor of Sokoto State and Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, hitherto Minister of State for Finance. Among others.
The latest information filtering out of EFCC is that the incumbent Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, may be invited for interrogation any moment from now to shed some light on some transactions that concern the N32 billion which was intended for arms procurement to fight terrorism, but ended up being deployed to non related matters.
Also slated to be asked a few questions, according to what YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine heard, is Emefiele’s predecessor, now Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The EFCC is, however, in a dilemma over how to go about Sanusi’s lest it is seen as desecrating a reverred traditional institution. To play safe, we learnt that they may be visiting him in his palace in Kano instead of inviting him to their office like they did with others. Or even outright arrest in extreme cases.
Sanusi worked for sometime under ex President Goodluck Jonathan as the CBN Governor before they fell out. The former First Bank MD had accused NNPC of misappropriating billions of Dollars then, which obviously didn’t go down well with the government of the day. Thus, he was relieved of his duties and replaced with Emefiele, also the former MD of Zenith Bank. And from there, Sanusi went on to become the Emir of Kano, a position he had always fixed his eyes on.
