Dayo Olomu, a respected and renowned learning and development consultant was recently elected as the chair of the Black on Board Community. This was at their annual general meeting.
Speaking on his election, Olomu said: “I am humbled to be elected as the chair of this great community dedicated to inspiring and empowering ethnically diverse members to secure board appointments across UK organisations. I share the ethos of the community that we need more black people on boards. BME communities suffer disadvantage in the education system, housing, employment, mental health services, health and are over-represented in prison and underrepresented on boards. My vision for BoB community during my tenure will centre around three things, namely “Engage, Expand, Encourage”. I will engage with stakeholders and policy makers on getting more black people on board. I will expand the membership of the community by 100 percent and I will encourage black people to seize this moment by enrolling on the Black on Board programme to be equipped for board role”.
