For the Dokpesis and Atikus, it’s indeed different strokes for different folks.
Yes, while Chief Raymond Dokpesi’s son, Raymond Jnr just tested positive for the ravaging and rampaging coronavirus, Mohammed, son of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is just recovering from the virus weeks after being knocked down by it and going into isolation and ultimately treatment.
Dokpesi is the media mogul behind Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT and Raypower while Atiku is a political heavyweight and former Vice President of Nigeria.
Dokpesi’s son, who is the Chairman of Daar Communications, broke the unpleasant news via a short message to members of staff of the company in Abuja on Monday, April 27, 2020.
We learnt that he had been in self-isolation in the past week, then developed malaria symptoms and also started coughing.
As a result of the above pointers, he contacted the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for a COVID-19 test which unfortunately turned out positive.
“I got a call this morning confirming the result is COVID-19 positive. I am leaving now to the Gwagwalada Isolation Centre for treatment and hope to be back in two weeks. Many of you may have interacted with me during our various meetings and I would advise you to get tested as soon as possible,” he had informed Daar Communications staffers thereafter.
Tracing, meanwhile, has now commenced to ascertain those who came in contact with him, get them isolated and subsequently examined lest the virus spreads.
