Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has felicitated with Muslims in the country as they join faithful worldwide to celebrate Eil-el-Maulud.
The Governor, in a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Adedayo Adeneye, urged Muslims to use the occasion, which is the celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed, to reflect on the ideals, which the Prophet stood for.
“The teachings of Prophet Mohammed centred round sobriety, peace, sacrifice and selflessness. These were the ideals he stood for and which, we, as Muslims, should emulate.
“We need to imbibe these virtues and manifest them in our lives, particularly at this period, when we need to support the President Mohammadu Buhari led government, towards the consolidation of the gains recorded so far in its change agenda.
“As Muslims, we are expected to champion the aspiration for a better society and success of the government”, Amosun added.
The governor wished the people of Ogun State and Nigerians a peaceful Eid-el-Malud celebration.
