There’s every reason to celebrate the life and times of a matriach who lived to the ripe age of 94. And that’s exactly what the Okonkwo family of Umuezeabu, Ichi, in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State, is set to do for their mother, Ezinne Nonyelum Hope Okonkwo. The family is therefore inviting friends and well wishers to join them in bidding a final goodbye to Mrs Okonkwo who passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, June 18, 2018.
The late matriach of the Okonkwo family was born to the family of late Pa Umeakunne and late Mrs. Eleodichi Obi of Uruagu, Nnewi, Anambra State. She was a devoted Christian, community leader and successful entrepreneur during her life time.
According to the programme of events, released by the family, Mrs. Okonkwo’s rites of passage will commence on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 6pm, with a service of songs at Chief Samuel Okonkwo’s compound, Umuezeabu, Ichi.
This will be followed the next day, Friday, September 21, 2018, by a funeral service at St.James Anglican Church, Ichi . Time is 10 am. Funeral festivities will continue on Saturday, September 22, with the reception of inlaws, condolence visits, etc while a thanksgiving service in her honour holds on Sunday, September 23, at the same St. James Anglican Church, Ichi.
Among those left to mourn her are Chief Sam Okonkwo, Chairman/CEO, Fairpoint Ltd; Chairman/CEO of Ekulo Group, Sir Emma Bishop Okonkwo OFR; Sir Nathan Okonkwo, Chairman/CEO, NathGoz International Ltd and Mrs ABJ Okonkwo, daughter in law.
