A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has just granted a N250 million bail to controversial former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.
Also granted bail in the same sum by Justice Musliu Hassan are Mrs. Esther Nenadi Usman, an erstwhile Minister of State for Finance and one Danjuma Yusuf.
The trio are facing corruption charges, and besides the N250 million apiece, they are to deposit their international passports with the court as well as provide two sureties with landed properties within the court’s jurisdiction.
The matter has been adjourned to October 19, 20 and 21 for trial.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, it would be recalled, had on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 arraigned the trio for allegedly diverting about N4.9 billion belonging to the Federal Government and converting same to personal and political advantages. They all pleaded not guilty to the 17-count charge. And now this.
As at the time of writing this, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine reliably gathered that Fani-Kayode, Usman and Yusuf were still battling to perfect their bail terms so as to inhale the sweet air of freedom again.
