The unscheduled visit of highlife megastar, Flavour (Chinedu Okoli), to the home of emeritus Professor, Johnbull, was the highlight of episode 5 of Glo-sponsored TV drama series, Professor Johnbull, which was aired on Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. on NTA network and on NTA International on Channel 251 on DSTV as well as Startimes. A repeat broadcast of the programme comes up this Friday at the same time on the same stations.
It was fun all the way as the appearance of the star continued to surprise and shock members of Professor Johnbull’s household. Starting from his gateman, Abednego (who followed Flavour from the gate, praising him to high heavens), to Carol (Mercy Johnson Okojie), his house maid who fainted on seeing Flavour, his son, Churchill (Junior Pope) who said Flavour’s presence will boost his music career and Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye), Professor’s daughter who was visibly shocked, the ‘Flavour fever’ engulfed the whole community and was the focal point throughout the episode.
Caro and Elizabeth were further shocked to discover that the Flavour visiting their house was not the same one they were used to on television. He was calm and comported himself well in a typical home-setting, answering their questions gently. The humility of the star surprised them greatly and they started comparing him to Churchill who at pre-star stage was already showing arrogant traits.
At a point Caro ask Flavour, “So you clean your own room and lay your bed” to which he replied ‘yes.” She went on to mock Churchill’s peculiar arrogant style when introducing himself “Yoo men, yoo men, I am a musician, I am a rapper” and advised him to copy Flavour, an already-made star who still remained humble.
The same call for humility continued when Professor Johnbull intervened in the altercation between Churchill who was with his girlfriend and the duo of Caro and Elizabeth who chided him for not tidying up the table he and his friend used. He immediately ordered Caro to give the mop stick to him and lambasted him saying, “I want to see some humility in you; it will help a lot.”
The Professor subsequently sat down waiting for Churchill to clean up the place and said: “I await” after which Elizabeth humorously added ”Yes o, we await.” while Carol also added her own sarcastically: “I was watch.”
The programme as usual has a lot of comical scenes including when Jumoke slapped Samson (Ogus Baba)thinking that he was lying about Flavour being around and also when she had to chase the same Ogus Baba away from where she and Flash were relaxing as well as when Carol got carried away and had to be pulled back by Elizabeth when professor was seeing Flavour off.
Entitled A Good Flavour, Professor Johnbull who rounded off the episode by calling on people to avoid fake lifestyle of stars and imbibe humility said, “As a father, it feels good to cultivate humility as an attribute of nation building, not everything they see about stars on television should be copied. Flavours’ visit has afforded me the opportunity to correct my son.”
