Saturday, June 4, was a memorable night for members of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association as they held their annual President’s Dinner sponsored by next generation telecommunications network, Globacom.
Globacom’s Coordinator, Enterprise Sales, Mr. Folu Aderibigbe, who delivered the company’s goodwill message at the event, eulogized members of the association for the contributions they had made to nation building through professionalism and excellence in their various business engagements.
“The Lagos Business School has produced exceptional business leaders that have engineered and shaped the business and economic landscape of the country. You all have contributed in one way or another to the nation’s development and added value to its economy”, he said.
He said Globacom was proud and happy to be associated with the Lagos Business School Alumni Association and would continue to give its unflinching support to the association in every way it could.
In his welcome address, the out-going President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Wole Oshin, who handed over to Mrs. Bola Adesola, extolled Globacom’s pivotal stance in the nation’s telecommunication industry and the role it had played in making telephony affordable and accessible to many Nigerians across the country.
He also commended the company’s drive in supporting and promoting sports and entertainment in Nigeria, while thanking it for its magnanimity in sponsoring the dinner.

Mr. Oshin enumerated the achievements of his administration while in office including the training of all Lagos State High Court Judges on digital economy.
“When we came in 2 years ago, we realized we could intervene in the area of education and economy. We also came up with a programme to educate and train Lagos State High Court Judges on digital economy. All the high court judges participated in the programme”, he said.
He also pointed out that for the first time, women were elected into several top positions in the association in an election conducted by his administration.
“For the first time, women were elected as President, V.P and secretary. I believe it is a sign of good things to come”, he enthused.
Charles Anudu, the Chief Executive Officer of Swift Networks, was presented with the prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award.
The Dinner which was held at the Convention Centre of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, was largely attended by the crème de la crème of the business world, most of whom are members of the association.
The guests who were clad in an array of beautifully styled traditional attires were treated to a night of unforgettable pleasure with melodious tunes from the BJ Sax Band. There was also dance by Adele Dance Ensemble and Ayuna Dance Troupe who performed the Wazobia Dance. Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka reeled out rib-cracking jokes as he anchored the event.
At the elaborate ceremony, Globacom gave out iphone 6 to three alumni of the association who won in the lucky dip conducted during the event. The lucky winners included Adetoun Otepola, Ajayi Oluwole and Chief Nzegwu Louis.
Otepola said she was delighted to be among the lucky winners. “I’m so glad to be here today. I’ve been looking forward to this day, reconnecting with my former classmates and networking with many others is indeed worth the while. I also won an iPhone 6, wow, I can’t believe it”, she enthused.
“I want to say a big thank you to Globacom for sponsoring the event”, she added.
