Apostle Johnson Suleman, the founder and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, with headquarters in Auchi, Edo State, has denied reports in some online publications and websites that he is being funded by the embattled governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
The fiery preacher who became a household name on account of his accurate predictions and revelations, both on national and international issues, described the rumour as the handiwork of evil minds.
Speaking to YES International! on the allegations that Governor Amaechi built a church worth N5 billion for him and also gave him some mouth- watering contracts to execute, the minister of God summed up the story as comical and a creation of those with evil minds. “May God forgive whoever started this rumour”. He went further to describe the allegations as “a diabolic lie, satanically concocted and damagingly misleading. It was indeed orchestrated by those with evil minds. I am not a commercial Pastor. I can walk out on any governor who errs. Prayers are a non-profit venture,” he added emphatically. Making further clarification on the matter, Suleman told the magazine that “those peddling such evil news don’t know Amaechi. He is not generous with the state’s resources. One of the issues he has with people is because he refused to give them money”. With a sense of self assuredness, he asked: “If governor Amaechi sustains me, how can I correct him when he is wrong?”
On building a N5 billion church for him, the preacher noted that his church building is not worth anything close to that amount. “Does that church building look like what even N200 million was expended on?” He again challenged those who say he is a beneficiary of contracts to come out with proof. “If they say he has given me contracts, there must be documentary evidence. Documents are verifiable, they can go and check if there is anywhere in Rivers State that I have benefitted from any contract”.
He thereafter warned his detractors to desist from dragging his name in the mud and politics. “It is bad that this is being said. Governor Amaechi is just a state governor of 5 million people, but I’m the overseer of a ministry that has its presence in 31 countries of the world. No one should dare drag me into political issues. I’m God’s servant. I won’t deny Amaechi. He has been my friend and no matter what he is going through, he is still my friend and I won’t deny him”.
Apostle Suleman who rightly predicted that Amaechi would be made governor through a court decision equally spoke on the rift between Amaechi and President Goodluck Jonathan. He began by admonishing Amaechi to calm down. According to him, God told me “there would be a serious attempt to remove Amaechi in this November”.
But he pleaded with The Presidency to temper mercy with justice. “The Presidency should remember the past; this man once helped them. Chinua Achebe said in Things Fall Apart, this boy (Ikemefuna) calls you father, have no hand in his death”.
