Barely 48 hours after the demise of veteran actress, Patience Oseni, another actor has also died in Nollywood, Nigeria’s movie industry.
The ‘victim’, this time, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine learnt, is Frank Dallas. He allegedly died of cardiac arrest in Umuahia, Abia State where he had reportedly gone to see Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
We learnt that he had been battling high blood pressure and gave up the ghost around 1:00AM. He died in his hotel room, sitting down. It was, however, around 12:00PM that his door was broken and his remains evacuated.
One of his close friends and top movie director, Chico Ejiro confirmed his painful loss thus: “Today is painful…lost my best friend and brother…may his soul rest in peace…”
Indeed, Chico and Dallas were close. Besides featuring in most of his movies, Chico’s Grand Touch Pictures office, on Bank Olemoh Street, Surulere, Lagos used to be one of his favourite hangouts.
As a matter of fact, our reporter saw both of them last somewhere in Ikoyi, during the preparation for Peace Anyiam-Osigwe’s AMAA Awards.
Expectedly, Nollywood has been enveloped by mourning the father of two, with a couple of his colleagues already paying their tributes to the lively actor who at some point was very active in the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria politics.
In fact, he contested for the position of the Public Relations Officer in the last election, but lost to actress Monalisa Chinda-Coker.
