These are definitely not the best of times for the Stephen Osita Osadebe family in Atani, Ogbaru, Anambra State.
The highlife music king just lost another son – the third as a matter of fact, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine exclusively learnt.
First to go was Obiajulu, a highlife crooner who was then with Premier Music and a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.
The second was Henry, who allegedly died while swimming. And now Onyinye, who reportedly gave up the ghost after battling with an undisclosed illness.
Onyinye Osita-Osadebe, like he was widely known, was born on February 24; he attended the popular Abbot Boys Secondary School in Ihiala, and from there he proceeded to Enugu State University of Science and Technology, where he read Applied Microbiology and Brewing. It was upon his graduation that he ‘inherited’ his late father’s band, which he was leading until his demise on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
A consistent hit maker, Osadebe Senior was unarguably Nigeria’s king of highlife music. And one of his greatest hits was Osondi Owendi, which did not only broke sales charts, but also broke down language and melodious barriers.
