Kunle Afolayan is really making Nigeria proud in the international community. The actor and multiple award winning director added another blockbuster, October 1, to his works recently. YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine had a chat with him on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Enjoy…
You won three awards at the Africa International Film Festival, AFRIFF 2014, how does this make you feel?
It makes me feel like I need to work more. It also makes me feel that the work I’ve done is not in vain.
The film gulped a lot of money, how would you rate its acceptance?
I think it’s been well accepted and there has been a lot of good reviews, but we can only hope to do more.
What was the motive behind the film in the first place?
I just want to represent Nigeria. I want the old and the younger generation to have a feel of where Nigeria is now and what the future holds.
What were some of the challenges you faced in the course of doing this?
Raising money, getting the right locations and pulling it off.
How were you able to get all the archives you used?
We got them by all means; we pulled them and were able to manage to get all.
You have been representing Nigeria well in the international community, what are your wishes?
I just want to keep representing and I hope I live long. That is all I want.
