Nigeria’s only Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd ), on Sunday, April 24, 2016, admitted that he has not been enjoying the best of health lately.
The social media, it would be recalled, had been awash with the news of his alleged incapacitation and even demise. But speaking with select news men this afternoon at his wondrous Hill Top mansion, in Minna, Niger State, IBB, like he is fondly addressed, vehemently denied that.
According to him, ‘It is true I have minimized my appearance at public functions because of my ill health, but not to the level of incapacitation as being widely circulated in social media’.
The gap-toothed Army General who is equally known as Maradona went philosophical at some point, adding that ‘ Nobody is above sickness or death because nobody is above what God has destined’.
Born in 1941, Babangida, even while in power, had been having a medical battle with Radiculopathy. The illness which keeps relapsing has also over the years given birth to other illnesses, especially those associated with old age.
The death of his delectable wife, Maryam, years back, also took its toll on him.
