Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has installed Oba Abdul Rasheed Omotayo Salami as the Saderiren of Isonyin Ijebu in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of the State.
The installation which was witnessed by Ijebu Traditional Council, sons and daughters of Isonyin, home and abroad, was performed a year after the demise of Oba Funsho Ogunkoya of the Tunwase Ruling House who joined his ancestors in September 2015 .
The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, while presenting the staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Abdul Rasheed Omotayo Salami, charged residents of Isonyin to continue to maintain peace and put the interest of their community above personal one, adding that the only way to move the community forward is to join hands with the monarch to take Isonyin to greater heights.
” By Kabiyesi’s appointment and installation, he has become a member of Ijebu Traditional Council, so you are expected to cooperate with other Obas within Ijebu Traditional Council and mobilize your subjects for effective discharge of their civic and social responsibilities such as prompt payment of taxes and other levies, peaceful coexistence and enforcement of law and order ,” Amosun charged.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, Yemoji Local Council Development Area , Prince Dapo Adebajo, pointed out that the installation of the new monarch was a sign of great beginning that would usher in massive infrastructural development that would be implemented through the LCDAs.
Responding, Oba Abdul Rasheed Omotayo Salami promised to ensure that developmental projects and provision of basic social infrastructure through self help initiatives are made top priorities .
