Music enthusiasts have commended Rite Foods’ Bigi brand for the promotion of talents in the sector, through its Bigi brand. They spoke at the maiden edition of the Bigi Medial Idol held in Lagos, on Tuesday.
At the first ever Bigi Media Idol event, when it hosted content drivers comprising music writers and others covering such beats as lifestyle and entertainment, arts, bloggers as well as online publishers, at the inaugural edition of the show in Lagos this week.
Many of the content drivers as it will help those reporting and reviewing the Nigerian Idol to appreciate and understand the painstaking efforts that goes into the selection of the eventual winner.
The evening event which was well attended by the content drivers, many of them participated in the contest where 10 were shortlisted before the eventual winners.
In his speech, the Managing Director of Rite Foods Limited, Mr. Seleem Adegunwa, said the company will continue to promote talent discovery in music through the Nigerian Idol, a music reality show, and also espouse interest in creative art.
This, he stated, prompted the Bigi Media Idol, to bring the best out of the content drivers, who may have the talent in music, but are waiting for a platform to showcase it. But more importantly to state our commitment to the sponsorship of the Nigerian Idol and Nigerian entertainment in general.
“For us at, Rite Foods Ltd, we are committed to the Nigerianess of positive energy, talents in music, creative art and ideapreneurship that will earn international respect and accolades for the country,” he avowed.
In her remark, the Brand Manager, Rite Foods Limited, Boluwatife Adedugbe, said the Bigi Media Idol would help spur increase in talent discovery, which like the Burna Boy victory, will make the nation proud.
At the Bigi Media Idol, the Entertainment Editor of Nigerian Tribune Newspapers, Rotimi Ige, won the first prize of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira, with 10 packs of Bigi soft drinks products.
The first runner-up, Osigbe Blessing of High Society Magazine, an online platform, received the prize of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira, while the second runner-up, Funsho Arogundade, Publisher of PM Express, smiled home with the prize of One Hundred Thousand Naira. Also, seven other participants went home with the sum of fifty thousand as consolation prizes.
Ige in his first appearance thrilled the audience with “Olufunmi” by Style Plus, while Osigbe sang a popular West Life music. This was followed by Arogundade, who sang “Ade-Ori Okin” by Wasiu Ayinde.
Before the finale, 10 contestants were chosen by the judges to perform on stage with the beautiful microphones designed with the Bigi brands, another exciting feature that made the event more colourful.
The number was trimmed to five after the first performance, and then to three, where Ige, Osigbe and Arogundade contested vigorously for the winning prize. At the last stage for the selection of winners, Ige, with his tuneful voice, outsmarted others with the song “African Queen” by 2Face.
