What a pity! The founder of AIT and Raypower FM, High Chief Raymond Alegho Dokpesi, will be spending this Christmas and New Year in EFCC’s custody and far, far away from his family members and loved ones. This, of course, is no thanks to his arraignment today, Wednesday, December 9, 2015, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over his alleged involvement in the $2.2 billion arms deal scandal currently rocking the nation.
Dokpesi who appeared before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja was slammed with a 6-count charge which centered majorly on the N2.1 billion he alleged collected from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd, out of the said money. The first class graduate who pioneered private radio in Nigeria, meanwhile, has continued to insist that all he was paid for was the media work he did for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, during the elections. And nothing more.
The media baron who hails from Agenebode, in Edo State, of course, pleaded not guilty upon being read the charges. Thus, Justice Kolawole adjourned the matter to February 17 and 18 and March 2 and 3 for trial. He also ordered that Dokpesi remains in EFCC custody, where he will spend his Christmas and New Year holidays!
