Nigerian girls have been doling out more condemnation than commendation to 2 Face Idibia ever since the news of his marriage proposal to Annie Macaulay broke. And there are two major reasons for their anger. The first is: Why did he impregnate Pero for the third time knowing full well that he would ultimately propose to Annie?
And the second: Why would he choose now that Pero is eight months pregnant to do that? “The whole thing just goes to show how heartless he is because the shock of that alone can make Pero to go into shock or even lose the baby she is carrying,”, one of them cried. “Just how does he expect the heavily pregnant Pero to pull through? He could have waited till after her delivery – which is just a little over a month away. In fact, I heard that anxiety has enveloped the Adeniyi family all because of his action. Everybody is now seriously concerned, and praying that she delivers safely”.
Another girl who also spoke to YES International! summed up 2 Face’s proposal to Annie as wicked. “I am happy, no, very, very happy for Annie who eventually triumphed in capturing his heart. But the truth still remains that 2 Face is unfair to Pero. The timing for the proposal is not okay. Simple. And if you ask me, I think we all should pray for Pero’s safe delivery or even 2 Face himself may not like what will happen should anything go wrong”.
HOW AND WHY ANNIE WON OTHERS
2 Face has finally picked his African Queen. Of his three best known women, the gifted crooner, on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, settled for Annie Macaulay. He proposed to Annie, an actress and mother of one of his children (Isabel) at ex-soccer star, Austin JayJay Okocha’s No 10 Club, on Saka Tinubu Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
YES International! gathered that the love birds had opted for an out-of-sight corner on arrival at the club. And that while other loves were busy in their own worlds, 2 Face knelt down and pleaded, “I know we have had our ups and downs, but it will be my heart’s desire for you to marry me”.
Annie, of course, said yes. She also got a lovely ring which she has been brandishing ever since. Interestingly, those who know told us that they saw this coming. Their reason being that 2 Face has always accorded her special privileges. Beside both of them being madly in lovely, it was Annie, out of the three, that 2 Face featured in his super hit video – African Queen. Again, during his 20th anniversary as a musician, of his five children, it was Annie’s that was crowned on stage as his little African Queen, an action that didn’t go down well with the mothers of his other children – Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajaba.
Here was how Annie reacted on her BB soon after 2 Face blew her mind with his proposal: “OMG (Oh My God), the love of my life has just proposed”. Hours later, she updated it: “I’m serving a living God”.
28 years of age, lucky Annie is a native of Esietudua in Eket local government area of Akwa Ibom State. A 2008 Creative Arts graduate of UNILAG, her parents are separated. Born in Kaduna and raised partly in Gboko, Benue State, her mother is the owner of Annie’s Fast Food. The only girl in a family of four, she met 2 Face in 1998 at Even Ezra Studios (owned by former PMAN President, Femi Lasode). Both of them, however, ignited the fire of their romance in 2001. The romance, unfortunately, has been tupsy turvy. But with this proposal, it may soon adorn a new garb. She attempted acting first in 2002, with Even Ezra. Then a soap, First Family, where she acted as the Governor’s daughter. Later, Next Movie Star and home videos like Operation KTP, Blackberry Babes and so on.
Contacted over her good fortune on Friday, February 17, 2012, Annie who declined a detailed interview said, “I am as happy as every other woman will be. That’s all”. Attempts to speak with either 2 Face or his manager, Efe Omoregbe were not successful.
HIS OTHER WOMEN AND CHILDREN
2 Face Idibia has always had his way with women. Easy going and soft spoken, slim and dark skinned, there’s no arguing the fact that most women find him irresistible. Even as a member of The Plantashun Boiz, he had an ex-beauty queen, Vien Tetsola, eating from his palms. And upon going solo and exploding internationally, the likes of Annie Macaulay, Pero Adeniyi, Sumbo Ajaba and actress Caroline Ekanem soon joined the fray, among many unknown others.
Currently a father of five – with the sixth one on the way – Annie has one (Isabel), Sunmo has two (Rose and Nino) and Pero also two (Justin and Ehi).
PROFILES OF HIS THREE POPULAR WOMEN
The reigning champion, Annie is a Creative Arts graduate of the University of Lagos. Petite and chocolate skinned, she too would have also been the mother of 2 Face’s two children but for a miscarriage she suffered years ago during a robbery attack.
Still cutting her teeth as an actress, the Akwa Ibom born mother of one was the runner up in Sola Fajobi’s Reality TV Show, Next Movie Star. More reported for her romance with 2 Face than her acting prowess, she has nonetheless taken part in a couple of flicks.
The next in line is Pero, daughter of Prince Jide Adeniyi of the Poatson Music Jamboree fame. The mother of three (two of them 2 Face’s) is a divorcee. Her path and that of the crooner allegedly crossed in 2005 when she paid him a visit in a hospital in Festac Town, Lagos soon after a robbery attack. From showing concern, they become lovers and from there two children later emanated, with the third one now on the way.
The last of the trio is Sumbo Ajaba, also the mother of 2 Face’s two children. Married and divorced, the petite and fair complexioned lady used to work in a bank before she abandoned it for the world of business. Said to be born again now, she is a head of department at Royal Christian Centre in Orile Agege, Lagos.
