Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has described as untrue the story flying all over the place that a fierce battle is currently raging over who becomes the next Olubadan of Ibadan.
According to him, the issue of who succeeds Oba Samuel Odulana who joined his ancestors days back at age 101 won’t pose any challenge as the issue has always been ‘rancourless’.
‘We know the next Olubadan and the next and the next…’ He added.
Gov. Ajimobi disclosed this today during a visit to Aso Villa to officially inform President Muhammadu Buhari about the demise of the first class traditional ruler. Maintaining that Buhari has equally assured him that he will attend the burial.
It would be recalled that prior to Ajimobi’s response, Saliu Adetunji and Adebayo Oyedeji had been laying claim to succeeding the late Olubadan. However, 87-year-old Adetunji, owner of Babalaje Records and the man believed to have discovered king of Fuji music, K-1 de Ultimate, seems better favoured. And most likely to mount the throne next as the Olubadan of Ibadan.
