The Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has described Globacom as an indigenous company that is truly international in the provision of cutting-edge services and products that are comparable to what is obtainable in advanced countries of the world.
The Kabiyesi said this while addressing a press conference on Monday at the Ake Palace, Abeokuta, to announce the activities marking the celebration of this year’s Lisabi Festival.
The monarch attributed the giant strides recorded by Globacom in the eleven years of its operations to the dynamism, commitment, and exposure and business acumen of the company’s Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr. (GCON), adding that they were both old boys of Ibadan Grammar School.
He congratulated Globacom for sponsoring the festival again this year and declared that the telecommunications company would always be the preferred partner of Egba sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora.
Oba Gbadebo described the Lisabi Festival which celebrates the heroism of Lisabi as an ample opportunity to revive the good part of Egba culture without worshipping idols, adding that Egbaland was great in the past and will be great again.
Speaking earlier, Globacom’s Head, Business Support, Mr. Yomi Ogunbamowo, said the company would partner with the festival organizing committee to make this year’s edition very colourful and fascinating.
He added that Globacom has empowered millions of Nigerians directly and indirectly through its various programmes and enjoined all Egba indigenes to participate in the on-going Glo Overload Promo in order to stand a chance to become millionaires as the company will still make many more Nigerians millionaires in the promo.
The theme of this year’s Lisabi Festival is Collective Responsibility: A panacea to the socio-economic development of Egbaland.
The 2015 Lisabi Festival will begin on Monday March 9, 2015 with Booming of Guns while Quiz, Ayo and Football Competitions would also be held during the week-long program which would come to an end on Saturday March 14.
