The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano, visited the country home of Sir Emeka Offor in Oraifite, Anambra State, to pay respects and commiserate with the family, especially the aged mother, on the death of her husband and patriarch, Chief Benneth Offor, whose wake-keep and vigil was held on Thursday, 17th November, 2016.
Mrs. Obiano, who arrived amidst the solemn ceremonies of the evening, proceeded to meet the mother of the business mogul who received her warmly. She also took part in the Burial Service held on Friday at All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Speaking after the condolence visit, Mrs. Obiano said:
“I came here to commiserate with Mama on the death of her husband and our good friend, Sir Emeka Offor and the rest of the family in this time of grief. Actually, I’ve always wanted to visit and see Mama and condole with them, but I was unable to make it before now. The Bible charged us to mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice. That is what we came to do.”
Speaking further on the need for peaceful coexistence among Ndi Anambra, Mrs. Obiano said that her husband, Gov. Willie Obiano is a friend to all and would have been present at the vigil but was unavoidably absent because of other commitments. “So I am also here in the spirit of onye ayana nwanneya.”
Also reflecting on the acclaimed security in Anambra State, the Governor’s wife stated that “As you can see, there are dignitaries from all parts of Nigeria here who also came to pay respects to the Offors. The fact that they are all here is a testimony to the peace and tranquility existing in Anambra and we have to be grateful to God to continue to preserve us and for the funeral ceremonies to go on peacefully.”
