Indications have emerged that issues that precipitated the strike by civil servants in Ogun State would soon be resolved.
This followed the intervention of the State House of Assembly which held a meeting with the labour leaders at the Assembly Complex today in Abeokuta .
Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi who led a team of members comprising the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo while briefing Government about the outcome of the meeting said the House was worried about the development and as such could not fold its arms and watch the impasse fester.
The Speaker said following their intervention, the Labour leaders had agreed to shift grounds and dialogue with Government with a view to resolving the contentious issues.
Hon. Adekunbi who noted that Government had been alive to its reponsibilities appealed to it to also shift grounds on the matter in the overall interest of the State.
Responding on behalf of Government, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa thanked the Assembly for its intervention and reaffirmed the readiness of Government to further negotiate with the workers, saying that government was anxious to resolve all the issues and see all the workers back at their respective duty posts.
Corroborating the Speaker, Adeoluwa said as major stakeholders, the workers have contributed a great deal to the success of the State and as such could not be taken for granted.
“We are appealing to labour to come back to the table. We have built the State together to this enviable status. Genuinely, we know that they mean well for the State, but this is not the time to destroy what they themselves have built.
“We will immediately set up a team between Labour and Government that will meet day to day to discuss these issues so that it will not affect the system too much. Government is interested in peace and harmony”, the State Scribe said.
