It was a gathering of professionals and politicians alike on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Federal Secretariat, Oke Mosan, Ogun State as the local government coordinators for Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) were inaugurated by the chairman in the State, Chief Kayode Ajibola. Speaking at the ceremony, Ajibola said President Goodluck Jonathan is the only administration that has ever addressed the economic challenges confronting the country “realistically’. Speaking further, he added that “Nigeria will not attain economic prosperity until the country curbed smuggling and encouraged indigenous production. Contrary to the belief that Nigeria is rich, the country is not buoyant due to the lack of productivity and over dependence on importation”. Also present at the inauguration ceremony was the state chairman of the PDP, Engr. Adebayo Dayo, Oyo State SURE-P chairman, Hon. Dare Adeleke, Ogun State coordinator for Women for Change, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye, Aare Tunde Alabi, Arch. Kayode Adebayo, Chief Iyabo Apampa, among others. Ajibola urged the newly inaugurated local government coordinators to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme in their respective local councils, warning them to see their appointments as a call to service and not a money making scheme.
