The Department of Security Service, DSS, has finally opened up on their reasons for surrounding the Abuja home of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd, and also debarred him from traveling abroad for medical treatment.
According to them, Sambo was invited to appear before a committee set up by the Federal Government to explain what he knows about a $2 billion arms deal that took place under Jonathan and repeatedly he has continued to ignore them.
‘What has however brought the seeming stand off between Dasuki and the Service, despite the court-ordered release of his international passport on November 4, 2015 is his refusal to appear before a committee undertaking investigation of an entirely different case.
‘The public may wish to note that the government set up the committee to investigate procurement processes relating to a $2 billion arms transaction by the last administration, under which Sambo was the NSA…’
Accusing the former NSA of grandstanding, DSS ended their reasons thus:’His refusal to appear before the committee has left the service with no option than to adopt legal means to ensure his attendance’.
Dasuki, it would be recalled, has not been finding things easy with the DSS ever since the last administration, which he was a key member of, lost power to a new government. He has been dragged to court by them, his homes searched, his international passport confiscated, released and now this – which the DSS has also come out to explain why.
