YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine’s attention has just been drawn to falsified versions of a story we published with the above title in our Vol. 5 No. 16 edition. These distorted accounts, now making the rounds on the Internet, erroneously claim that YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine was referring to Mrs. Aisha Abubakar as the Minister in question.
Nothing could be more malicious and farther from the truth. We find such a callous act distasteful and a sign of sheer crassness masquerading as journalism. Whoever the re-writers of these distorted versions are inferred an identity from our write up and we can state categorically that their inference is absolutely wrong. For the avoidance of any doubt, our piece was not about the said Honorable Minister and YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine did not mention her name or any other person’s in our story.
As one of Nigeria’s leading and most respected soft sell journals, we ensure that our journalists abide by the guiding ethics of our noble profession. We have included a hard copy version of our original story for the benefit of our esteemed readers and the general public.
YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine is flattered that blogs and other online news-sharing platforms repost our stories. But we would appreciate and actually do demand that they do not falsify our content in order to increase their page hits.
We trust that those sites that shared the distorted versions of the story will deem it fit to also post our rejoinder to help clear the air.
