Promasidor Nigeria Limited has commiserated with the parents and families of the recently abducted school-girls from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Northern Nigeria, describing the act as despicable. The company noted that the carnage experienced from the acts of terrorism currently being experienced in the country was robbing the North of the required human resources needed to propel the region into the next level of its development.
In a statement by the company, Chief Keith Richards, the out – going Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited summed up the situation as worrisome and which must be condemned by all well meaning Nigerians.
“We are saddened by the abduction of the teenage girls and the mindless attacks which has almost crippled the economy of the North East zone of the country. Violence against women and children is totally unacceptable under any circumstances. Our heart goes out to the families who have suffered untoward hardship due to this callous campaign of violence. We also send our message of solidarity to the people and governments of the affected states.”
He added that the insecurity in the states was preventing students from participating meaningfully in development activities that are for the betterment of their lives, families, communities and the nation.
“This year, we could not hold our annual Cowbell National Secondary Schools Mathematics Competition, (NASSMAC) in the North East and we have seen a drop in attendance and participation by girls,” adding that girl child education was a priority for any society that seeks generational change in the standard of living.
He therefore called for cooperation between the Federal and State Governments, as well as other stakeholders to ensure the provision of adequate security so that normal activities can resume in the states.
“In Promasidor, we are committed and are serious in supporting children’s rights.”
