Rotary Club of Ikate, District 9110 Nigeria, days back, donated food items to one hundred and thirty (130) households in the Surulere Community of Lagos State as their way of alleviating the suffering of some families due to the lockdown occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first stop made by the Club was at the Lawanson Market where the items were gladly received by the widows and the elderly led by the Iyaloja of the Lawanson Market.
Welcoming the members of the Club for the second batch of the palliative donation was the Chairman of the council, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira. The President of the Club, Rotarian Ebong Ekomobong, presented the food items to the widows and elderly (men and women). Each package contained rice, tomatoes, vegetable oil, 400g powdered milk, noodles, spaghetti, salt and bread.
The Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA heartily appreciated the Rotary Club of Ikate for the gesture and thereafter presented face masks to the Club members.
The last stop by the Club was at the National Stadium, Surulere where the palliative was donated to the disabled group led by their leader, Mr. Kester.
The beneficiaries were selected from the information given to the Club by the Iyaloja of the Lawanson Market, the Chairman, LCDA, the Oba of Ikate and the disabled representative respectively.
The President of Rotary Club of Ikate, Rotarian Ebong Ekomobong who led the team stated that he was grateful that the Covid-19 Relief Project by the Club made the desired impact although they would have loved to do more. He also thanked all those contributors for the project – Club members, grant from District 9110 and Thompson & Grace Pharmaceuticals Ltd that facilitated the Valio Skimmed and Lactose Free Powdered Milk.
