The three House of Representatives members who were recently accused of begging for sex while on a trip to the United States of America are now under investigation.
The accused, Mark Gbillah, APC, Benue, Samuel Ikon, PDP, Akwa Ibom and Mohammed Garba-Gololo, APC, Bauchi, will appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, to tell their sides of the ugly story which has been trending since the news broke.
The Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, obviously embarrassed by the incident, has since put the committee headed by Nicholas Ossai, on notice.
The three legislators who were part of a ten-member delegation to the U.S. to take part in an International Visitor Programme on Good Governance, organised by the U.S. Government, brought shame to Nigeria and themselves by allegedly begging for sex while there.
The programme which held between April 7 and 13, 2016, according to the scandalous and salacious story from Cleveland, Ohio, USA, saw the trio allegedly engaging in obnoxious sexual behaviours.
The U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, reported the legislators to Dogara via a letter dated June 9.
Hear him:
“It is with regret that I must bring to your attention the following situation.
“Ten members of the Nigerian National Assembly recently travelled to Cleveland, Ohio, as participants in the International Visitor Leadership Programme on good governance. We received troubling allegations regarding the behaviour of three members of the delegation to the U.S. Government’s flagship professional exchange programme.
“The U.S. Department of State and the Cleveland Council on World Affairs received reports from employees of the Cleveland hotel where the representatives stayed, alleging the representatives engaged in the following behaviour:
“Mohammed Garba Gololo allegedly grabbed a housekeeper in his hotel room and solicited her for sex. While the housekeeper reported this to her management, this incident could have involved local law enforcement and resulted in legal consequences for Representative Gololo.
“Mark Terseer Gbillah and Samuel Ikon allegedly requested hotel parking attendants to assist them to solicit prostitutes.”
Amidst the criticisms trailing their alleged ungentlemanly conducts, the U.S. has since revoked their visas, investigations are set to commence and Nigerians, especially their constituents, angry with them.
