In a rare display of political maturity hardly seen among Nigerian politicians, Sikirulai Olawale Ogundele, a frontrunner for the position of Governor of Ogun State in 2015, under PDP, has dropped his governorship ambition. In a telephone chat with GP recently, the former council boss of Ifo LG and a two term member of the State House of Assembly said: “In the spirit of reconciliation presently going on in our party, the PDP, individuals should shun selfish interest and work with the party to ensure victory at the coming elections. I did what I did for the progress of the PDP and also to accommodate those coming from the Labour Party”. It is, however, being speculated that the amiable hotelier will take a shot at the Federal House of Representatives instead.
