No one, indeed, knows tomorrow.
Former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, who died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, aged 71, had concluded plans to give his first wife, Florence, an unforgettable 70th birthday party, but alas the party will no longer happen.
Rather, weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth has enveloped the Alao-Akala family because of the sudden and shocking demise of their patriarch, a retired police officer who rose to become ex-Governor Rasheed Ladoja’s deputy before ultimately succeeding him following an impeachment allegedly engineered by the late strong man of Ibadan, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.
YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine gathered that Mrs. Florence Alao-Akala’s ‘septuagenarian soirée’ had been fixed for January 15, 2022 at a well secured venue – No. 1, Oba Akinyele Avenue, Awosika, Old Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, by 4PM. The white and gold invitation card had gone out to specially selected friends and well wishers. The services of some of the best caterers had been engaged. Choice drinks of various kinds had also been arranged. Including the Aso-ebi, musician and so on.
Then, three days to the D-day, the husband of the celebrant and head of the family was allegedly found dead in his room. Thus, turning a hitherto sweet story to a very sour one.
“Of course, the party can no longer hold”, a source told YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine. “What everybody is concentrating on now is how to give Baba (Alao-Akala) a befitting burial. It’s after the burial that the issue of a birthday party maybe reconsidered. But that will depend on if the woman is still disposed to it…”
