Star actress and producer, Dolly Unachukwu, is back again with a new flick. Entitled Broadway, it will be premiered at Odeon Cinema, Greenwich, London, on Friday, April 20, 2018.
Parading Dolly, Ruke Amata, Patrick Doyle, Tina Amuziam and a host of other stars, the major thrusts of the movie are violence, adultery, arrogance, child abuse, domestic violence and drugs.
Shot in London, United Kingdom, Broadway is centered on members of an African church called House of Grace. The story actually revolves around the pastor’s wife who does not understand her role, but rather acts like a movie star; a very arrogant and proud woman who has no respect for her husband or for members of the church and would not tolerate any form of disrespect herself. She sacks and hires members as she wishes and acts more or less like a slave driver.
She also does not hesitate to ask her husband, the pastor whom she is cheating on with the assistant pastor, to sack anyone that does not agree with her policy simply because she brought him from Nigeria to England after they got married. In fact, she never fails to remind him she is the reason he is a successful pastor in England. The members of the church are of course from different social backgrounds – nurses, lawyers, drug pushers and users, divorced and adulterous pastors as well as abusive and controlling husbands. The church has them all under the same roof on Sundays.
Unfortunately, the abused are keeping it quiet and believing prayers will change their abusers. But in all of this, there is hope and grace for all. Just like in most religious settings.
Broadway indeed is a story that addresses the happenings around the African church; the good, the bad and the ugly, and it’s one story that will surely interest everyone because so many real life issues are addressed in it. Again, it is littered with twists and turns as well as myriad suspense and life-altering lessons.
A must-watch movie, Broadway will above all assuage millions of Dolly’s fans who for a long time had been missing he on their screen. Delectable Dolly, it would be recalled, was one of Nigeria’s hottest actresses prior to relocating to the United Kingdom. From Nnewi, Anambra State, her roles in popular works like Fortunes, Glamour Girls and so on will always be remembered and cherished by movie buffs. And now Broadway, her latest effort.
