Hauwa, wife of the embattled and ‘suspended’ MD of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Adam Nuru, has finally opened up.
In the statement entitled, “I’m still with my Beloved Husband”, the woman described the stories flying up and down about her dumping her husband over his alleged adultery scandal with a former staff of the bank, Moyo Thomas, as well as fathering two children outside wedlock as “malicious and a deliberate falsehood”. She insisted that she is still with her man and that neither this nor any other issue can put them asunder.
Continuing, she said: “Following several calls from well-meaning family members and friends over a malicious publication and deliberate falsehood that I have packed out of my matrimonial home, I want to clarify for the avoidance of doubt that I am still very much with my husband.
“This fake news was published by an online newspaper in a calculated attempt to further demonise my beloved husband and a loving father.
“Let me reiterate that at no time did I contemplate leaving my matrimonial home or filing for divorce as no grounds exist for such. I really have no idea where this is coming from.”
Obviously unhappy about the sad drama that has now engulfed her once peaceful family, she added that “while I owe a debt of gratitude to all those who have genuinely expressed concern about the fabricated story of moving out of my matrimonial home, let me appeal to the media to abide by the ethics of their profession and avoid the pitfall of rumour mongering and sensational reporting.”
She maintained that, “There is no truth to the tale whatsoever. I will not be responding to any further comments made by persons who obviously have an agenda whatever it may be.” She ended.
It would be recalled that for weeks now, the social media had been gripped by the shocking news of her husband’s alleged sex scandal. According to the story which indeed got the world talking, Nuru allegedly had an affair with Moyo, a former FCMB employee, fathering two children with her.
The story further alleged that the uncovering of the paternity secret resulted in the death of Tunde Thomas, Moyo’s husband. An allegation that Moyo has since denied.
It was when the story would not abate that Nuru was left with no other option than to go on leave and to also allow the bank to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
FCMB, in the interim and while still awaiting the result of the investigation, has appointed an Ag MD to oversee the affairs of the bank founded decades ago by the legendary Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun.
