On Sunday, April 7, 2013, actress Mercy Aigbe and her hubby, Lanre Gentry, were allegedly involved in a public show of shame at the popular Sola Fajobi’s lounge, Troy, situated in Ogba, Lagos. Fajobi is also the creator of Super Mom and Next Movie Star.
Fajobi, who just floated two satellite television stations, V Channel and Oodua TV, hosted the Omoge Benin movie producer, actress and writer. This was on Oodua Amounmaworan as one of the leading Yoruba actresses at the moment. The well attended event was graced by Mercy’s husband, fans and friends.
But before the show ended, Mercy was alleged to have vanished and everybody started looking for her, including her hubby, who was visibly angry about his wife’s sudden disappearance.
After almost an hour of searching and calling her mobile lines, the hubby forced the master of ceremonies to announce that he was looking for his wife and when that didn’t work; he allegedly resorted to causing a scene. When it was obvious that he meant business, they now took him to a room where his darling wife who had arrived the venue in a short black dress with her back bare had changed to a night gown!
“Enraged, Lanre dragged her out in the night gown and threw her into his SUV and drove angrily out of the venue whilst shocked onlookers looked on!” Claimed a source.
Mercy’s car, a Nissan Solaria, was said to be parked in front of Troy Lounge. But, when we visited Troy on Friday, April 12, 2013, around 10:00 am, some of the Hausa men that normally flock around the area claimed there was actually a car there, which had been removed, but could not identify the model.
We later contacted Mercy on the same Friday, April 12, 2013, but she was busy breast feeding her baby and promised to call us back when she was through. She never called back, so we called back again on Saturday, April 13,2013, around 8:12am. She picked the call and said: “My brother, so sorry I could not call you back yesterday because it was too late for me to do that and you woke me up again this morning. Anyway, nothing like that happened! It was all lies. They said the cloth I wore that day was still missing because I could not pick it from the scene of the incident and that I was beaten up by my husband, but again, that was a blatant lie. I don’t have any problem with my husband and if anybody thinks otherwise, let them bring the proof. Those who said I was molested, dragged and humiliated should come out with evidences, pictures and their sources. I’m challenging them to prove this bag of lies. You could hear my baby crying and disturbing me yesterday (Friday, April 12, 2013, around 8:42pm) when you called. I was actually breast feeding him at home. I have done a release to counter the accusation and if I’m probed further, I would order for the video of my footages to be released so that everyone could see that the story was nothing but a bundle of lies”.
… HER OFFICIAL REACTION
Actress Mercy Aigbe decides to issue a press release to shed more light on what actually happened on Sunday when she was hosted by Oodua TV. Blogger Stella Dimoko-Korkus in her blog post claimed that Mercy’s dress which she wore to the event was missing. She also claimed that her husband, Mr. Gentry caught her in a night gown alone in a hotel room, dragged her from the room. Mercy responded with a video and taking on Stella’s ‘strong evidences’. We are responding to Stella for the following reasons:
1. When a lie gets repeated too often, some undiscerning people take it as the truth.
2. Mercy has an obligation to tell her fans the truth.
3. It is when we allow people that lie with gusto and shamelessly defend it get away with it that they are emboldened to tell more lies.
4. A lot of people who know the truth called that we should let Mrs. Dimoko Korkus be; as everyone knows her as a trouble-maker, they believe the truth will eventually prevail. But how will the truth prevail when people who know the truth chose silence because a “trouble maker” is involved? Today we are choosing to stand for the truth.
We believe Stella either has an axe to grind with Mrs. Gentry that we do not know of or someone deliberately misinformed her and she swallowed the fabricated lie hook, line and sinker. We wish Stella well and would like to give her a piece of advice, every source is not credible.
Thanks and God bless you.
