Kehinde Bamigbetan, one of the strongest grassroots politicians in Lagos, especially in the Ejigbo axis, is bereaved.
The easygoing gentleman who recently got inducted as a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) just lost his wife and mother of his children.
Mrs Fatimah Amele Bamigbetan, according to YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine findings, died on Sunday, November 21, 2021. She was aged 48.
Breaking the sad news on his Facebook page, her husband, a former local government chairman, chief press secretary to ex-Governor Bola Tinubu and erstwhile commissioner for Information and Strategy under ex-Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had simply written: “Fatimah Amele Bamigbetan
May 19,1973 – November 21,2021
Please pray with us in this moment of grief.”
Condolence messages, expectedly, have been pouring in for the family.
Summing it up as ‘Devastating’, former Lagos NUJ president and close friend of the family, Lanre Arogundade, had this to say:
“It all started in my presence. Fati showed up at our Ijesa abode where we struggled and sojourned as young journalists and it was clear she was going to be Korki – Kehinde Bamigbetan’s chosen one. She became my sister because from that moment I was her Egbon Lanre.
The wedding came as expected and who else had to be Korki’s best man but Egbon Lanre! Through me Fati came into my wife’s world as a bestie. The Fati we knew was one that smiled on all occasions. Even when expressing a grievance, which was on rare occasions, it would still be a smiling lip that would say “Egbon Lanre e ma da Korki lohun’.
It has been a sad and tough day for us grappling with this tragedy. A very confusing one. Sola and I were setting out for the Bamigbetan’s Ejigbo-Lagos residence when news filtered in that she actually passed on at Ile-Ife.
I have lost a sister.
My wife has lost a bestie.
Our friend, brother and comrade has lost his darling wife.
Korki please accept our condolences.
Your loss is ours.
Fati . Fatimah Bamigbetan – may God rest your gentle soul.“
