Again, the Yoruba arm of Nigeria’s film industry has been thrown into deep mourning. One of their shining lights, Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, is dead.
Details of where and how it happened are still sketchy. However, the abundantly hilarious actor and producer, it would be recalled, had been battling prolonged ill health.
Accused of trafficking in drugs and also detained at some point by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, he obviously didn’t recover from the trauma and ordeal. Coupled with that is the death of his wife, Omoladun.
Confirming the sad story, his son, Adesola Omidina, said his father died on Monday, September 22, 2021. Aged 63, condolence messages have been pouring in for the departed thespian.
